Makes you wonder…

The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.

After reading that quote, it kind of makes you wonder where the Obamessiah is headed with his gun control measures (read: ban) that he has stated he will attempt to enact once he’s in office.

Oh, he didn’t say that quote above, by the way.  That one is all Adolf Hitler.

  1. quoting Hitler to argue a point usually works against you. it certainly doesn’t endear me to your way of thinking.

  2. Good thing this quote was meant as a comparison in the policies between a notorious dictator and our president-elect, not as defense for my stance on the Second Amendment.

  3. Oh Ryan. Always the alarmist. Which is probably why we love you. But seriously. How likely is it that Obama (a former Constitutional Law professor) would enact a total BAN on guns, when the Supreme Court has so clearly stated in their most recent decision that not only can you NOT ban even handguns, but you also can’t force people to use a trigger lock! If you haven’t read it yet, here’s the wikipedia summary: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Columbia_v._Heller, and the full text (which I highly recommend reading, if nothing else, for Scalia’s own personal home security manuel. Very entertaining.) http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/07-290.ZO.html.
If Obama really wanted to enact a total ban on guns, he would have to get another amendment passed to the Constitution overriding the 2nd Amendment (like the 21st did for the 18th’s ban on alcohol). THAT would most likely be impossible. He would need 2/3 of both the House and the Senate to pass it, and THEN get 38 states to ratify it. (He only got 28 states in the election. 29 if you count DC, which isn’t a state, and probably wouldn’t be included in ratification.)

So you can probably relax, at least a little.
