Home Inspection Blues

Welp… I had my home inspection today.  The inspector was very thorough.  Without going into details, there’s enough wrong with the house that the seller either needs to REALLY come down in price, or fix them.  I’m concerned.

  1. It’s a classic Catch 22. On one side, the seller will agree to pay for everything in order to pass inspection, but, only put in half the effort of go on the cheap with materials. On the other side, the seller may settle for a lower price, but not enough to cover the expense of paying to have the problems fixed to the quality you’d expect. It’s a tough position to be in. My suggestion is to have a licensed contractor come in and give you an estimate to address all the issues, then subtract that amount from the price. My 2 cents.
